'SELF-PORTRAIT'
How do I identify myself? I identify myself as a person who is very emotional and always thinks a lot when alone, I'm afraid to be on my own, but want to stay alone sometimes, and always 'act' enthusiasm to people who were not to close... HOWEVER! there is a person, who is totally opposite as me, he can keeps calm in many different situations, he feels comfortable in many places in either by himself or going with the crowed, he is always social and being enthusiasm to everyone, including family, friends or strangers. Even though we had a totally different personality and did not look too much the same, but I still feels HE IS ANOTHER ME IN THE WORLD, he is the person who I've spent my life the most so far, he knows each of my thought without guessing, sometimes we make the same pose in sudden, sing the same song in sudden, speak the same sentence in sudden, even feeling ill in the sametime, having blood nose at the same time, he knows every little secrets of mine and I knows everything of him, he is me, and I could also be him.

Based on today's short activity as to take some portrait photos of each other, I've developed my idea for my project for the week. My partner was Maya, we didn't know each other very well until the day we actually sit down and speak before the shoots. One thing that I found very surprising is she has a very similar background as me, Maya was born in Japan and moved with her family to Paris, then to uk for foundation course, this happened same as me, I was bourn in china and migrated to Australia, then based in London for foundation, I had two brothers and so as her. I found very interesting as to meet someone who is very similar to me but from a different nation and country. This has remind me to take a series of picture based on someone who is very similar to me, as "another me in the world"
what story do you want to tell?
My idea is to took photos based on telling some strange memorable stories between me and my twin brother when we were young. He was the people who is most similar to me and we know each other so well as he is the person who has spent most the time with me during my life so far. The photos will based on what I could remember so far about our memories, (most of it will be injuries and fight that I remembered mostly) and a retaken version of the photos that our parents took for us when we were still young.
What/ who is your subject?
As I want to make the shoot simple so the colour I assume will basically based on white and red as the main colours, the background would be simple as well, a studio set up will be great, the light should be soft and not to cool, I want it to be soft. In order of posing I'm planning of to act out the scenes of memories that I could remember so far and any photos of when we were young I will retake it again as well.
Makeup: to show the simple and the reality of the photoshoot, there will be fake blood needed for the project, however I've also thought to cover both of our eyebrows up so we could look more similar in appearance as the part that we look the most different is the eyebrows.

Julie Greve
Broad target. young old stranger
give them a cleAr idea of what you want them to do
Have a little conversation before starting
"stay still, hold it”
Long exposure figure out the pose
The face is the most expressive
From the short speech from Julie today, there is a lot of information and her personal experience shared with us which gives me a better idea of my project for the week. Julian’s work is mainly based on portrait as she finds human face is the most expressive, in order of taking pictures of others there isn’t a certain range of people set for her target, their were young girls, elders etc. It is important to give the model a clear idea of what you want them to do, to make them feel comfortable about it the best way is to have a little conversation before starting, as also maybe try to took a photo within them sitting in a chair first of all, plus using a long exposure to give them the time to find the most suitable position for the shoots.
From Julie’s photo what I feel personally is a very clear shoot, with simply model in the middle of the photo and with a suitable facial expressions. The clear and simple ness of her photo is the key point to make her photo stand out better and we are felling enjoyable to look at. Beside that I also find a point which really catches my attention is the background color of the shoots, it is not off white or creamy white but a color that is a little bit gray, which combined really well with the skin color, and makes a balance, harmony to the photo, I thought this is something that I could took on further into my portrait shooting for the project.
Planning
Before starting the actual shooting I think it is best to pan out how I would like the photos to be shorted, so I've made some simple sketches based on my brother and my childhood memories. I want all of the outcome, the plan and the test photos to be simple as it could be, which it is the style that I would like it to have for this project.
EXPERIMENT
Before starting my actual shoot, I've tried to test the makeup, light and background testing with my model, which is my twins brother Steven. The outcome went better than what I've thought of, and the model is also putting him self in the mood. After the testing I believe I could make some adjustment of where should I place the tripod with my camera, and the red should be darker and more red, instead of orangish colour, but also making is as close as to my illustrations of each planned shoots.
Outcome "US"
Feedback from the crit/ Self reflection
The critical today was to present the outcome infant of half of the class which I think I did not do well as presenting in a small table groups. Based on the photos that I've printed out, it is very interesting to see how different people seeing it so differently from each other and myself. The feedback started basing on how people looked at the photos, most people thought it is presenting the violence and the relationship between gender, the main colour red stand out the most and red stands fro violence. Others thought it is telling a narrative, or might have a order to how it might be presented in. Firstly I was very surprised how no one noticed in the photo it was me and my twin brother, and how some people seeingit in a very dramatic way, I want it to keep simple but I'm wondering if it's too simple that people are not too sure of what it is about. However there is also people thought it is a great set of photos, how not having a text or description beside it add another meaning to it, as making it personal to myself and new to others, when each of student have their own way of explaining the meaning behind the shoot and that even makes up another story, or recalls some memories in their own experience as well. In summary I am quit happy with my final outcome as it is very close to what I was planned earlier using the simple illustrations, and I would like to make a few more these series in the future as well.

Julie Greve
After attending Julie's speech and had a look at those photos she took, it has given me an idea of simpleness, clean and naive kind of mood. The photoshoots she presented is something that I think I could take on further into my personal shoot for this task, as my plan was to retool the photos in the idea of memories with my twin brother and the reshoot of the childhood photos. The young girls who appeared in her photo are basically strangers, as she thought it is more interesting to shoot normal peoples as models are taught how to quickly posed and 'create' a nice picture. I truly agree with the idea, as models are as similar as the actors, they could pretend to be anyone, in any style, which normal people would show the awkwardness and the tense, but this sometime gives a better, a more real effect to the photos. I suppose another way she control her way of photographing, to make it stay in the middle of 'professional' and 'awkwardness' is to use the long exposure, waiting the girls to find a comfortable, confident way to face the camera.

Alix Mair
Mair has used a different way to present her work, which the presentation of the work is as well as important, she made the photos into something 3D, into something that we could touch on and see physically instead of digitally.

Igor Pjorrt
Igor Pjorrt is a photographer who I've following for a long time since grade 12 when I came to England, he was graduated from UAL-London college of communication. The first time seeing his photo is from instagram, I was attracted by the way he took photos of body, the use of composition and lighting which is usually warm light or natural sun light, has shown most of body shape fluency and softness of the skin into his photoshoots, no matter gender or place, his photos always brings me into a comfort mood when I look at it.
Johnson Tsang
The comical works morph facial features and body parts, at times cramming the identities of multiple persons into a single being.
Dan Lam
Lam produced the series as a part of a continued study of beauty and disgust—dually attracting and repelling those that come in contact with her sculptures. “I take cues from nature, food, and the human body,” Presenting the body in another format and media.

Antoine Geiger
Artist Antoine Geiger’s series SUR-FAKE, a group of digitally altered photographs depicting random people being sucked into the screens of their phones. Which he has presented another type of 'Body' in an ironic way, contain a sense of humor.
Oriana Layendecker
Oriana is a fashion and makeup photographer based in NYC, looking at her works as a reference is simply because the composition and the colour choices from her photos really gives a clean simple look, the structure of it is very attractive in a normal way, it is not something that would catches my eye in the first glaze, but will makes me curious about the choice of lighting, the choice of colours which is something that is like Morandi colour set. I'm thinking of in either to make my Photos very soft, and calm in a style of Oriana's work and Pjorrt's work, or either make it more stand out and sharp in Ren hang's photo filtilter look.

Ren Hang
I can't say that I knows Ren Hang's work, as a artist, his work present the ideas of unconscious minds, so as the dream and fantasy. To say that I'm not sure if I really understand his work might because of I've never seen the style of photos, (First time seeing it is in the mood "Aperture"). However I do think he is a clever artist, he has his own taste of life, and bravely represented it, record it, and showed to the world, as making people being aware that there is such a group of people living in china, as china has always being very feudal, and tried to make everything that was shown in publish positive and 'propriety'. Ren Hang is not famous because of the bold, naked in his photo, but having a personal style that is recognisable, in either his composition or the lighting, the way he present his work all makes me memorisable, Which it has also related to the sentence that I love the most: it is not the most perfect and beautiful photo, but it is the most important one'. I do not understand the meaning behind each piece of his works, but I simply liked it because it is important to himself, and it is personal, a memory that belongs to him.
